The morning was chilly with light rain as fifteen volunteers contributed to this week's survey. The hornworm shown below is prepupal, hence the pink color and the fact that it is wandering on the ground. It will not mature, though, as the prominent black spot indicates it has been parasitized; a fly or wasp will emerge from the moth's pupa.
