The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

A team of thirteen participated in this week's survey under sunny skies as the temperature rose from near freezing to balmy. Adult black blister beetles, as shown below, feed on asteraceae nectar and pollen, while their larvae, the first hatchling stage of which is a highly mobile triungulin, seek out and consume grasshopper eggs.
