The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

The weather was warm and cloudy as five participants conducted this week's survey. The most unusual thing was finding FOUR scorpions, all of whom were eating prey (a moth, a shieldback, and two crickets). Although they are predators, the nocturnal habits of scorpions usually preclude their feasting being witnessed. The individuals we found had all been hunting around lights that lured insects during the night.
