The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fauna Project |
The morning was mild, humid, and very overcast, which kept flying insects to a minimum, although dance flies were active around the Woodland Stream. In spite of no sunshine, our party of five saw a large number of insects, especially moths that had been lured to lights the previous night. Caterpillars are on the increase. The damselflies and dragonflies are present around the ponds, although they were not flying much today. The invertebrates kept us so distracted that we didn't observe very many birds.
