In August, 2010, Val and her mother, Evelyn, took a road trip from FL to WI to help her sister, Vicky, celebrate her 50th birthday. The weather was splendid and Vic and Tom's kids were on summer vacation so there were a few expeditions to favorite recreation sites in the area. While at Kennedy Park, not far from their Turtle Lake farm, Amie (then 7 years old) accommodated her Aunt Val's request to perch on a convenient boulder for a photo op. The shade of a tree, however, obscured Amie's face when she stood, so she kept stooping lower and lower until the sun hit her face, at which point her hat was still in the way. One quick gesture and that little problem was solved! |
