The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

It was sunny and cool as fourteen volunteers completed this week's survey. Most spiders have eight eyes, arranged in various patterns on their cephalothorax. Jumping spiders, as shown below, have four small eyes on the sides of the top, while four large lenses point directly forward, giving them excellent visual acuity and depth of field.
