Fauna Project

Hot and mostly sunny weather greeted our six participants for this week's survey. Male dragonflies often have brilliant colors that are quite different from the females. Upon emerging from their aquatic larval skins, some species' males resemble their mates and take several days to acquire mature hues. The Pondhawk shown below has almost completed the transition from green to blue.
