The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fauna Project |
Although spring began almost a week ago, the morning's weather was cold, cloudy, and very windy after a brief rainstorm just before sunrise. Three volunteers participated. Due to the rain and strong wind, many insects were simply taking shelter and trying not to be blown away. We found a good number of well-hidden moths on the rocks and walls near security lights. Conditions were not yet warm or calm enough for Honey Bees to forage, but one individual, shown below, had a secure refuge within some Redbud blossoms.
