It was hot and mostly sunny as six participants completed this week's survey. There have recently been a good number of American Bumble Bees seen in the garden; almost all of them female workers. Shown below is a male, distinguishable by his larger size, more extensive yellow color, and lack of pollen baskets on the hind legs. In spite of not collecting pollen for the nest, he is still pollinating plants - note the white residue on his face!
