The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fauna Project |
One person conducted a shortened survey today due to heavy drizzle. The moisture and rather cool temperature in the morning (along with only one pair of eyes) definitely lowered the number of sightings. Checking under rocks provided the most interest: a queen yellowjacket and a good-sized scorpion. They were not under the same rock. The tiny jumping spider Pelegrina pervaga is unusual in that it seems to live exclusively in the branches of juniper.
