The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fauna Project |
Two people conducted this survey, with hot and humid conditions typical of July here in Austin. Occasional cloud cover helped keep us from getting too overheated and sightings were varied and numerous. Five species of skipper caterpillars, many Red Saddlebags (dragonflies) feeding on the wing, several kinds of mosquitoes, and an odd little diurnal geometrid moth (Fernaldella fimetaria) that resembles a tiny butterfly were among the highlights.
