Our lens focuses this month on the annual picnic of Val's mother's family, which is held in Joliet, IL, each summer. Taken in 1957, the featured photo shows Val's maternal grandfather, Chuck (1905-1960), and father, John (1926-2004), playing horseshoes. This year the family will hold its 80th annual reunion in July.
