The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

It was hot and sunny as seven volunteers participated in this week's survey. The image of the paper wasp nest shown below includes eggs, larvae and pupae (with their white silk covers), as well as both a recently emerged adult (dark eyes) and an older adult (light eyes). The wasps will add more paper to the cells with larvae to accommodate their growth.
