Fauna Project

It was very hot and sunny as seven volunteers conducted this week's survey. Adult lady beetles are easy to recognize, but their other life stages are not always so familiar. The larvae (see example below) are, like the adults, voracious predators of aphids and other tiny insects. Beetles develop through complete metamorphosis, so there is an immobile pupa stage, also shown below.
