The weather was delightfully cool then warm and sunny as nine volunteers conducted this week's survey. With many caterpillars in evidence, it is not surprising to find some that are killed by parasitoids. The Mummy Wasp shown below is so called because it turns its caterpillar host into a hard outer casing to protect the wasp pupa until it emerges as an adult.
