The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

It was hot and partly sunny as nine volunteers participated in this week's survey. Three predators shown below are eating their prey. The wasp, however, has only paralyzed the spider it is dragging. Adult wasps eat nectar but their grubs need fresh flesh. The mother wasp will place the live spider in a burrow and lay her egg on it.
