Two participants completed this week's survey under warm, cloudy and drizzly conditions. The strength of insects relative to their size is sometimes simply amazing. We watched the lone ant shown below haul a dead beetle several feet in just a few minutes. After briefly turning the beetle over to photograph it for identification purposes, we returned it to the anxious ant, which then continued on as if nothing had happened.
