The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fauna Project |
It was cloudy, windy and the temperature was just above freezing as three volunteers completed this week's survey. Two kinds of arachnids are sometimes called "Daddy Long-legs," and both are shown below. Cellar spiders have long legs, but they can easily be distinguished from harvestmen by their two distinct body parts (vs. one), and their webs. The harvestman is not a spider and cannot produce silk.
