Fauna Project

Four participants endured hot and sunny conditions to complete this week's survey. Very few caterpillars eat anything other than plants. The larva of the small metallic Euclemensia moth shown below is an exception and parasitizes scale insects in the family Kermesidae. This species is rather uncommon and our image was the first to be published on the web when it was added to BugGuide.
