The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

Although we have had balmy temperatures since last week's survey, this morning was only 20°F so it is understandable that just one person conducted the survey. The sun did not warm things up very quickly. It was interesting to note that a red-eared slider in the entrance pond was slowly swimming under the ice. The diving beetles pictured here were doing the same in the stock tank pond in the display gardens (yes, the ice was clear as glass).
