The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fauna Project |
A delighfully cool, breezy and sunny morning greeted our five participants this week. A Cloudless Sulphur was seen laying eggs on the Partridge Pea in the Butterfly Garden. The Mud Dauber that, in the photo below, appears to be standing on her head is actually gathering mud for her nest. Weevils in the genus Naupactus are parthenogenic; there are only females and they reproduce without males.
