The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fauna Project |
Clouds kept the temperature from soaring this morning and our group of three certainly enjoyed the relatively comfortable conditions. We noted several male bumble bees (along with the usual female workers). These are easily recognizable by their lack of pollen baskets. Spider wasps dealing with their prey (food for their progeny) provided some fascinating wildlife viewing. The first picture below is an example of one of the best ant mimics among insects.
