Faces in the Flowers

by Valerie

If there is one thing that delights the excessive brain power of our species, it is amusing incongruity. We are wizards at composing patterns out of chaos, creatures of curiosity who tend to enjoy puns and oddities, and beings who adore surprises, whether they are an unusual twist of words, actions that are not what they at first seem, or a startling visual trick that requires a second glance to understand. While human artists deliberately create such imaginative treats, they pop up randomly in nature as well. The appearance of such anomalies, when we least expect them, is part of their charm. These little gems cannot help but elicit a smile.
