LARVALBUG LENS, June, 2016

In a typical summer vacation snapshot, sisters Valerie and Victoria (ages 7 and 5) pose next to a battleship anchor on display at Fort Morgan, AL, in 1965. The girls enjoyed annual camping trips with their parents, John and Evelyn, and especially liked destinations that included the seashore. Fort Morgan is located on a peninsula jutting into the Gulf of Mexico and, while the well-preserved fort was certainly interesting, the surrounding beaches held even more attraction for Midwestern kids who considered all the exotic ocean creatures washed up on the sand to be better than a pirate's treasure.
